Connecticut Post

The newspaper was formerly the morning Bridgeport Telegram and evening Bridgeport Post before consolidating into a morning publication. The Bridgeport Telegram ran from at least 1908 to 1929 and again from 1938 to 1990. In 2008, the Hearst Corporation acquired the Connecticut Post and including seven non-daily newspapers, from MediaNews Group, Inc. and assumed management control of three additional daily newspapers in Fairfield County, Conn., including The Advocate, Greenwich Time and The News-Times , which had been managed for Hearst by MediaNews had managed under a management agreement that began in April 2007.

Danbury News-Times

The Ottaway Community Newspapers chain purchased the paper in 1955. Ottaway, which later became a division of Dow Jones & Company, owned the newspaper until November 2006, when its sale to Community Newspaper Holdings was announced. Five months later, on April 1, 2007, the newspaper, along with the weekly Spectrum, was sold to Hearst Corporation of New York. On August 8, 2008 the Hearst Corporation acquired the Connecticut Post, including seven non-daily newspapers, from MediaNews Group, Inc. and assumed management control of three additional daily newspapers in Fairfield County, Conn., including The Advocate, Greenwich Time, and The News-Times, which had been managed for Hearst by MediaNews had managed under a management agreement that began in April 2007.

Greenwich Time

Greenwich Time is a daily newspaper in Greenwich, Connecticut. The paper shares an editor and publisher with The Advocate of nearby Stamford, Connecticut. Both papers are owned and operated by the Hearst Corporation. The Post was owned by MediaNews, which handled The Advocate and Greenwich Time for Hearst until Hearst bought out MediaNews in 2008. On August 8, 2008 the Hearst Corporation purchased the Connecticut Post and seven non-daily newspapers, from MediaNews Group, Inc. and assumed management control of three extra daily newspapers in Fairfield County, Conn., including The Advocate, Greenwich Time, and The News-Times, which had been managed for Hearst by MediaNews under a management agreement that began in April 2007.The daily circulation of the Greenwich Time is 7,838 and 10,672 on Sundays. The publisher of the Greenwich Time is Michelle McAbee. The headquarters for the newspaper is located at 1455 East Putnam Avenue, Old Greenwich, Connecticut.

Hartford Courant

The Hartford Courant is the largest daily newspaper in the U.S. state of Connecticut, and is often recognized as the oldest continuously-published newspaper in the United States. A morning newspaper serving most of the state north of New Haven and east of Waterbury, its headquarters on Broad Street are a short walk from the state. It reports regional news with a chain of bureaus in smaller cities and a series of local editions. Since 2000, it has been owned by Tribune Company, which later combined the paper's management and facilities with those of Tribune-owned WTIC in Hartford. The word "courant," borrowed from the Dutch, was a popular name for English-language newspapers. The daily Hartford Courant traces its existence back to the weekly, adopting as its slogan, "Older than the nation." The Hartford Courant circulates on average 135,283 weekdays and Saturday, and 197,406 on Sundays as of 2011. The Hartford Courant is owned by Tribune Company. New Haven Register

In 1812, The Register began publishing and is now considered amongst the oldest continuously published newspapers in the United States. John Day Jackson purchased the newspaper during the early 20th century. In 1987, the Jackson family combined the Register and The Journal-Courier into a seven-day morning Register. Upon his retirement, John Day Jackson passed over his control of the papers to his sons, Richard and Lionel Jackson. Later, Lionel's son, Lionel "Stewart" Jackson Jr. took control of the paper. The highest peak of circulation occurred in the middle 1980's, hitting over 100,000 deliveries. The Register has a week day circulation of almost 75,000 according to the Audit Bureau of Circulation. Norwalk Hour

The Hour is a daily newspaper published in Norwalk, Connecticut by The Hour Publishing Company. It serves the cities of Norwalk, Wilton, Westport, Weston and Stamford. The newspaper was founded in 1871. It was published under the title The Evening Hour from 1895 into the 1900's, at which point it was renamed The Norwalk Hour, after 1971, it became merely The Hour. In 2000, The Hour changed from afternoon to morning deliveries. When the Advocate ceased, The Hour was left as the only independent newspaper in Fairfield County and the only daily newspaper devoted to Norwalk and its surrounding communities. Stamford Advocate

The Stamford Advocate is a seven-day daily newspaper founded in Stamford, Connecticut. The paper shares a publisher and editor with the Greenwich Time; both are owned and operated by the Hearst Corporation, a multinational corporate media conglomerate with $4 billion in revenues. The Advocate is dristributed in Stamford and the nearby southwestern Connecticut towns of Darien and New Canaan. Since 2003, it has also published a separate edition that serves Norwalk. The paper's headquarters moved in 2008 from downtown Stamford, across the street from the Stamford Government Center, to the Riverbend complex in the Springdale section of Stamford. It also has a news bureau in Norwalk.
